Is it possible to communicate between C-series CAN modules?

I have a need to communicate between two cRIOs.  One cRIO has a 9853 CAN module with CANopen implemented.  Is it possible that I could put another 9853 in the other chassis and use it to communicate peer-to-peer?  I hav enot found any reference in the documentation that acknowledges this as a valid option.  It seems like it could be possible for the slave module to just Tx & Rx CANopen frames using whatever COB ID you choose to use.  The thing that makes me uncertain is that a 9853 does not show up on a CANopen bus scan using one of the network analyzers.  So I am thinking it would not respond to NMT commands.

You must be using the free reference library for can open. It only has limited functionality and probably would need to be modified for things like detection. The 9853 will be able to talk to one another though.

You might just use the 9881 if you are going to get another module anyway.
