New Hidden Gems in LabVIEW 2015

The new version of the Hidden Gems in vi.lib package is available for download on the LabVIEW Tools Network. It is version 1.0.0.8. It exposes the following new VIs in LabVIEW 2015:

  1. File Dialog - LabVIEW Files.vi (located in vi.lib\Utility\file.llb)
Generates a file dialog similar to the ones generated by the "Select a Control..." and "Select a VI..." options in Quick Drop/palettes, which allow the selection of LabVIEW-specific files.
  2. Save All This Library.vi (located in vi.lib\Utility\EditLVLibs)
Opens references to all libraries and VIs in a library and saves them.
  3. Progress Bar VIs (located in vi.lib\ProgressBar)
A simple API for displaying a modal progress bar in your LabVIEW application.
  4. Helper VIs for Shortcut Menu Plug-Ins (located in resource\plugins\PopupMenus)
Several VIs that are useful when developing shortcut menu plug-ins.

The new hidden gems package will also remove the deprecated VariantDataType VIs from the hidden gems "Variant" palette, since these VIs were promoted to an official API in LabVIEW 2015, as discussed here. Note that this VI removal only affects LabVIEW 2015 and later. The VIs are still available in the hidden gems Variant palette in LabVIEW 2014 and previous.

Note that if you install hidden gems 1.0.0.8 to LabVIEW 2014 or previous, two empty palettes will appear (for the progress bar VIs and the shortcut menu plug-in helper VIs), since those VIs are only available in LabVIEW 2015 and later.
