cFP-1808 error Unable to connect to data item on the module

Hey everybody,

I have 6 cFP-1808s running through an ethernet hub with the control PC also plugged into the "downstream" side of the ethernet hub, to put them all on the same subnet.  However, I have 4 of them running, one is out of commission until the electricians power it, and one is recognized by the system but the system cannot find any of the I/O hardware.

The six setups are identical, and four run properly.  I know the hub and cable are ok, because I can unplug them from the unresponsive unit and control others with them.

The unresponsive 1808 shows up in MAX, but it returns the error every time I try to "Find Devices."

The current IP setup is:

IP Address:              198.162.1.103
Subnet:                    255.255.255.0
Gateway:                 198.162.1.1
DNS Server:              90.0.0.3

Computer's IP:         198.162.1.100

The ethernet hub is not actually connected to the internet.  All the other 1808s are various 198.162.1.xxx (not 103!) with the same other settings, and identical hardware setups (an AI-111, two DI-304s, a DO-401 and 403, a TC unit).

I looked through the KBs and forum posts, but those were all about how to set the IP and such.  Any suggestions?

JeffOverton,

I have you tried deleting the problem controller from remote systems and then rediscovering it (View » Refresh   F5).  This can sometimes allow you to find connected devices that previously would not appear.

I tried both that and reassigning it an IP a couple times apiece. Smiley Sad

I would like you to take a look at the following Knowledge Base article (KB).  Please post your fpbank.ini file.

I don't know how to access files on the 1808.  I don't know if it matters, but we don't have any RT dev software, and we're not running the code on the 1808s, but on a PC.

Please make sure your host machine (PC) and the problem 1808 do not have the same IP address.

The host machine is 192.168.1.100 and the 1808 is 192.168.1.103
