If the device specifies that it outputs 500 CPR, then if you see 2000 in FieldPoint Explorer, this is most likely the correct result. Some encoders specifications are based only on a rising transition of one signal for one period. This would mean that both signal A and signal B are 500 Hz signals and for one period of each signal, only 1 pulse is counted. When using the FP-QUAD-510, the device actually reports 4 counts per period; the rising and falling transitions of both signals. This is to ensure that the direction of the device is known.
