Problem solved ???

"Man of La Mancha", the impossible dream 😉

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star.

Hey all -

One of the features we considered when we were looking at forum software was the "Problem Solved" feature.  It would be a visible indicator that the person who asked the question felt they got resolution.

You have already brought up some of the PROs and CONs of such a feature.

PRO - Active users know which threads are truly "unanswered" faster
CON - It can make the community appear to be unhelpful if the people who ask the questions don't actually come back to mark them as solved.  What I mean by this is that you could come to the forums, view a board, and see only a handful of the threads marked as "solved."  You can get around this by allowing more people to mark them as resolved (as you mentioned) and letting the person who asked the question override that marking.

We didn't consider this feature a required feature when we picked the forum, but it might be something neat to build in the future.  I, of course, will document it and keep you posted on progress.

Thanks!

Hi Molly,

Indeed, that make sense...
Also it is always very nice to receive your point of view and explanation, this way we really don't fell like we're giving feedback for peanuts 😉
