I agree that it's annoying, but I would do it rarely enough that I would consider the annoyance minor. Practically, I just opened the boards in new tabs in the order I wanted to float them, then unfloated them all and went through the tabs in order and floated. Basically, like Henrik.
What annoys me more now is the categories on the LV board, because they make it different from the other ones and slightly harder to look at. I'll probably get used to it.
