Why is there a timeout for editing our posts on this forum? While a small minority of forums use this, and there may even be good reasons for it in some cases, this forum is not one of those. If I notice a mistake in a technical question or answer, it is obviously and objectively better for that mistake to be corrected in situ rather than issuing a correction and hoping the correction and not the mistake are later propagated.
Is there at least a moderator I can ask to allow me to edit a thread again? This is necessarily a strong deterrent to posting at all on this forum...

There is a 'Options Menu' in the upper right corner of each message and an entry called 'Report to a Moderator'.
So, you can ask a moderator to get your message changed.

Hmm, I tried that, but so far crickets. Maybe in a few days, when it isn't a holiday...

Hi @marshaul
I apologize for the delay in responding. We do allow editing for a certain amount of time but if we allow it to be too long, spammers take advantage of it. In that case, the spam can be hard to detect.
I see your request and will respond to it shortly.
Thank you,
Mark
