Broken links in NI Community Subscription emails

Solved!
Go to solution

Last week I subscribed for the first time to some boards and labels. This morning, I'm finding none of the links from those emails work. They take me to a 404 page saying:

The requested URL /niforum/niforum was not found on this server.

Does anyone else have this problem?

The thread might have been deleted.  Some times they are spam and removed.  I also think a thread being moved might not redirect properly if too much time has passed since the post.  And there could actually be something wrong with the link or email.  If searching the forums for the thread name doesn't turn up anything it likely was deleted.

I forgot to mention in the original post (Monday morning pre-coffee). Of the ~40 email notifications, I tried ~10 links and none of them worked, I searched for ~3 posts and 2 of them existed.

Definitely some of those 40 were spam, moved, or deleted. But I really think there's an issue with the URLs in the emails I got.

Here's an example. The URL in the email:

http://sine.ni.com/niforum/niforum?requireLogin=False&forumDU=https://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message...

The actual thread:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Fire-a-Event-when-a-particular-channel-data-buffer-overflows/m-p/38...

Interestingly, the notification for THIS thread (of your reply) worked fine. Here's the URL they sent for that:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/Feedback-on-NI-Community/Broken-links-in-NI-Community-Subscription-emails/m...

I wonder why the subscriptions are wrapped in the sine.ni.com call?

Hi oneofthedans,

We are aware of the issue within some of the subscription emails that contain sine.ni.com URLs. This will be addressed in an upcoming release.

As a workaround, remove the portion of the URL that is before https://forums.ni.com and you will be directed to the proper topic.

Thanks,
