I have a PCMCIA-FBUS card that I have been using in another machine and it works. I have installed NI-FBUS Communication manager and Configurator on a machine running Windows XP. When I insert the PCMCIA card, the machine just hang - I cannot move the mouse. If I shutdown the machine and insert it while it's off and then power on the machine, the machine hangs at the XP Operating system splash screen. Should I be able to use the Fieldbus PCMCIA card with a laptop running XP?
Looks like you may have the series ONE card that causes a problem with some new laptops. There is a whole bunch of info on previous threads about this issue. The solution is to get another laptop with a different PCMCIA controller chip or buy the new series TWO card. The link below should get you to that thread. http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=120&message.id=81
