XP Machine hangs when plugging in PCMCIA-FBUS

I have a PCMCIA-FBUS card that I have been using in another machine and it works.  I have installed NI-FBUS Communication manager and Configurator on a machine running Windows XP.  When I insert the PCMCIA card, the machine just hang - I cannot move the mouse.  If I shutdown the machine and insert it while it's off and then power on the machine, the machine hangs at the XP Operating system splash screen.  Should I be able to use the Fieldbus PCMCIA card with a laptop running XP?

PS - The laptop is a Dell Latitude D600.

Looks like you may have the series ONE card that causes a problem with some new laptops.
There is a whole bunch of info on previous threads about this issue.
The solution is to get another laptop with a different PCMCIA controller chip or buy the new series TWO card.
The link below should get you to that thread.

Allen is correct, you need to upgrade your PCMCIA-FBUS card or change your laptop. If you are interested in the PCMCIA-FBUS trade-in option, please refer to the upgrade form below:
