Spot the Dot Promotion: Overly Technical Detailed Description

Many people have asked, "Wait...how does that spot the dot thing work?"

I want to go ahead and use my keen engineering mind to clear up any outstanding issues with this ingeniuos promotion. Here is a step-by-step winning guide and a list of possible prizes

HOW TO WIN - (pay attention closely)

1. Visit the National Instruments Booth 1418 and talk to any booth staffer available. To the right you can see an artist's rendition of the bird's eye view of the NI booth and surrounding companies. For a detailed Expo floor map to find our booth refer here: ESC Expo Floor Map.

2. The booth staffer you talk to will give you a "dot" to place on your badge. A picture of this dot is shown. On the back of this dot you will find useful information about the National Instruments events going on throughout the show.the dot.png
3. Use the provided elastic band to attach the "dot" to your badge lanyard using a standard Cow hitch knot. Also called the Lark's Head knot the cow hitch can be used to join a loop of rope (the elastic) to a fixed rope (your badge lanyard).Lark's Head.JPG
4. Walk the show floor with your newly upgraded ESC badge proudly flaunting your National Instruments fanhood.people with.png
5. Get spotted by the NI Prize patrol. The NI prize will leave the booth at multiple unspecified times throughout the show and find a place to stand on either side of an aisle. The first person to "cut" their line of sight wearing an NI "dot" will win a cool prize (listed below). Refer to the diagram for a detail schematic of two prize patrollers just before they give away a prize.Spot the Dot.png
6. Win a prize you have always dreamed of. Here is a picture of a winner last year with Todd Dobberstein, a product manager for CompactRIO.spot the dot winner.jpg
