Saving every 20 second

Hello everyone.

We have a VI which reads every 20 second by an Agilent data logger, but regardless the time of the test, it always has 1 KB and it´s empty. As soon as we finish the test it shows us the full size. The problme is that if the computer is turned off unintentionally, we could lose our time and the test.

How can we make it read, record, and save the data using Write to spreadsheet, like when using the tool Write to measurement file?

We want the file to be updated every 20 second.

We have LabVIEW 2011.

I think there are multiple options you can adopt:

• Move the Write To Spreadsheet File VI inside your loop and set the append to file? input to True.
• Use Write to Text File Function inside your loop using a file reference, instead of the Write To Spreadsheet File VI at the end.
• Use a Producer-Consumer architecture where you can have two loops: one acquiring data and the second saving to your file.
• Use TDMS files, which allow for faster reas/write operations and also can save data as it becomes available (inside the loop).
