Wiring NI-9411 with 3 wires hall effect flow meter

Solved!

Hi all,

I'm new to acquisition systems and my background (environmental engineering) doesn't help me to understand the problem.

I have a cheap hall-effect flow meter (like this https://it.aliexpress.com/store/product/YF-S201C-Transparent-Flow-Meter-Water-flow-sensor-Precision-...) with 3 wires (black, yellow and red). I have to connect it to NI-9411 card (http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/373506a_02.pdf) through a NI-9935 terminal block (http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/377414a.pdf).

Does anyone help me to properly connect the sensor to the card?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi aghetti,

first of all you have to choose how to power the sensor (red wire positive and black wire gnd). You can connect a power supply directly to the sensor or to the 9411 (it will generate a stable 5V that you can connect to the sensor). Then, yellow wire to one 9411 input (remember to set the 9411 to single ended configuration, it will not work in differential mode), and black wire to negative input.

Talking about the sw, you've to create a frequency counter input task. The flow is proportional to the wave frequency.

Hi lamber,

thank you very much for your answer.

Regarding the software, it should be ok.

Best regards
