Digital Waveform Editor

I have an application that logs the output of a PXI-6542 to an .hws file, and we use the DWE (2.0 Beta) to view the archive of test results. I know that it is possible to rename the signal Names to more meaningfull labels, but I can't seem to save the name profiles. Is there a way to make the signal names default, or better, can templates be saved so that the names will be set on launch and then different files openned and viewed with the proper labels in place?
TIA

Playing with this a little more I find that the reNamed signals can be saved with the correct signal names, so there is some meta data within the hws file. So the best solution may be -
is there a way to name these signals as properties when the files are being dynamically created?
as long as I am posting my wish list, can signal color info be stored as well - either in a template or as properties when the file is written?
This would provide a more professional solution for the client.
Thanks

Hi lmd2,

You can make modifications to the .hws file after it was opened and saved in DWE. There is no programmatic way in which you can specify which values should load as default properties for the signal names and color. In a sense, there is no custom template that you can create which will be automatically populated every time you open your .hws files. However, once the .hws file is created, modified and saved in DWE, next time you open it the file will maintain the properties you specified. At this time, there is no access to the meta file which gives the default signal names and color.

Natasa

thanx for the info,
it makes the output less intuitive, but at least I can move on to my next task with a clear conscience.
