6516 vs 6517

I need to provide -15VDC to a circuit to switch some relays that already have a ground(The circuit is not typical).  The 6516 specs say you can use +- 30VDC on the outputs but at other places in the manual it says not too switch the polarity.  I am confused,  do I need a 6516 or a 6517 in my case?  I believe my application requires sinking outputs but I need to provide -VCC instead of GND to the inputs.  I have read the sourcing vs sinking notes but I am still confused about this application.

Could you give a description or post a picture of your intended wiring diagram?  This would help to understand what you are trying to accomplish.

Thanks,

You do indeed need sinking sources, which would require the 6517.
