Report Layout Problems - point over a letter - subscript words

Hi,

is there a possibility to get a point over a letter in the report mode?

i need that as a description for a heat flow Q. but it didn't found a way to get that point over the Q. is there an easy way to get that?

another problem is that i need to subscript letters. in the curve and axis description i get that with "Q^tSp^n_KM" but if i insert an Textfield it won't work in the textfield. can you tell me how i get that in textfields?

Hi Normann,

Please explain further what you mean by "point over a letter", I have no idea what that is.  Regarding the subscript and superscript, the expression you posted works fine in a text box in REPORT-- were are you trying to use it, exactly?  Perhaps in a table?

I assume Q with dot is the differentiation over time for Q.

I assume this will probably not work.

There is a small q with dot in Unicode defined ṗ but no big Q.

Unicode Letters with dot on top.

The Unicode definition Q͘ does not even work in my Browser.

A two liner

  ̣
Q

does also look curious.

So I assume the only real solution is two text boxes.

Yes i mean the differentiation over time. sorry for my bad explanation.

i tried to subscript in the comment text boxes and there it didn't work. now i found out that in the free text boxes it works but there i have to manually put arrows to the box.

is there a way to get it work in the comment boxes or do i have to use the free text and put an arrow and a frame around it.

Hi Normann,

I just tested it in a comment box and you're right-- the subscript syntax is not supported there in DIAdem 2010.  I would call that a bug.  I think for now you'll need to use a simple text box plus an arrow box.

Sorry,

Hi Normann,

maybe the following workaround will help you, too: I have once had a request for ancient chemical symbols to be inserted into a DIAdem report programmatically. The solution was to use a true-type font (.TTF) with the necessary symbols. The symbols were represented through the regular letters, like an "O" for oxygen, "S" for sulphur, ..., which could easily be typed.

With a TTF editor (e.g. FontForge is freeware), you could create the dotted Q (dQdt) or the subscripted quantities as new letters and use these in REPORT.

Best regards,

Sebastian
