No more dropdown channel select in DIAdem 2020?

Hello,

me and my collegues are wondering why there is no more dropdown channel selection available in Analysis or View dialogs since our upgrade from 2018 to 2020. You have to type in by hand or drag&drop the channels.

For us, it is really annoying not to have the possibility to dropdown the channel list.

Is there any way to reactivate this "feature"?

Hi Sascha,

This change occurred at the same time that DIAdem extended the maximum number of channels in the Data Portal from 65,535 to 150,000.  The traditional channel selection pull-down controls performed very slowly with more than 100,000 channels, because they always added every channel in the Data Portal to the drop down control.  These controls were swapped out with new ones that instead efficiently fetch partial channel lists on demand with type-ahead, and which also support direct drag&drop from the Data Portal.  In fact the Data Portal control also had to be changed out for one that visualizes the Group/Channel structure on demand.

There is no provision in modern DIAdem versions to allow a customer to switch back to the traditional pull down channel selection controls.  This is is simply the price of progress on the channel count front.  Pleas do try typing the first few characters of the Channel name you want to select-- you may find that at least as fast and easy and the previous selection process.
