External log file editor

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

In my latest version of DIAdem the external log file editor feature has stopped working.

In Settings > DIAdem Settings > Logfile I have C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe in the Log file editor Filename box and in Settings > DIAdem Settings > External Editor I have the same path and filename in the External editor Filename box.

If I right-mouse over the Logfile area and select Open in Editor then it opens as a new script tab. If I go to Help > Display Logilfe I get a series of error messages beginning with "C:\Users\simon" doesn't exist. Create it?"

Any ideas?

Thanks, Simon.

Hi Simon,

If you open the log file via context menu (log file area) it opens in a new SCRIPT tab page. If you open the file via the menu HELP it opens in the external editor which you defined in the DIAdem settings. I have tested this in this DIAdem versions: 2018 SP1, 2019 SP1 and 2020 SP1. Which version do you have?

Walter

Hi Walter,

I am using 2019 SP1. Here are some screenshots of settings, etc:

And what happens when I go to Help > Display Logfile:

Note that my user name is simon aldworth, which seems to be split into seperate parts in some of the above paths. Note also that the path in the last image is not correct - spaces seem to be a problem.

Regards.

Hi Simon,

The settings in “External Editor” is not used for the log file (it is for editing DAC files).

Only the editor specified in the section “Logfile” is used for opening the logfile in case you go over the help menu.

The error messages are created in NodePad++ and not in DIAdem. I have tested with an other editor and this works fine.

Greetings

Walter
