Voltage analogue input range - determined by Dasylab or DAQ card?

Solved!
Go to solution

Our measurement setup is using usb-1208FS to read mv/V sensor outputs into Dasylab.

Provided with 15V DC excitation and 2mv/V max output from sensor --> Max output into DAQ will be 30mV.

Analogue input module only allows a minimum of -1V to +1V of input range, this means a "theoretical" resolution of 2V/(2^12) = 0.49mV, which is pretty bad....

Hence my questions are:

1. Is this -1V to +1V input range specified by Dasylab or the usb-1208FS card?

2. Any suggestions/comments how can we improve this?

I would imagine either get a DAQ card with better resolution, maybe 16 bits instead of 12.

Would like to hear any comments and appreciate any inputs.

Regards

Kent

The limitation is the device. Dasylab enables most features of supported hardware.

Look at the 24 bit USB-2416 for both range and resolution, or the USB-2404-UI.

Measurement Computing (MCC) has free technical support. Visit www.mccdaq.com and click on the "Support" tab for all support options, including DASYLab.
