Summary

This position is responsible for developing engineering test equipment that will adequately verify and validate various product designs. This function is carried out with excellence and with thoroughness and demands attention to detail, accuracy and technical competence.

Responsibilities

To meet the demand and future growth of new products and their respective quality this position is responsible to work within a team environment on programs as directed by a Test Systems Lead Engineer. This position requires accurate attention to the details of drawings, prototypes and procedures that lead to the efficiency and overall plant profitability.

• Become an integral member of the design teams, analyzing test requirements and establishing testing objectives and plans.
• Collaborate with customers and various engineering teams as required to discuss testing equipment requirements.
• Interface with production where applicable to optimize carry-over investment potential.      
• Provide direction to other team members within the Test Systems group.
• Develop Functional, Durability, EMC and various other D&D and testing validation relevant test tools.
• Develop and build testers with efficiency, flexibility and minimal cost.        
• Develop calibration procedures for all testers.        
• Develop tester guide sheets, drawings, bills of materials.        
• Research and implement innovative equipment and/or techniques into tester development.        
• Performs other job related and support activity duties as required and directed.

Requirements

• College or University level Engineering / Technology or developer certification
• 3+ Years of engineering test design and/or related automotive experience.
• Test automation software experience with tools such as National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand.
• Test automation equipment experience with data acquisition and PLC type hardware.
• Experience with CAN and LIN hardware and communication protocols, as well as, other communication protocol used in the automotive industry.
• Test rack fabrication, assembly, wiring.
• Test rack product troubleshooting, debugging, calibration, gauging, and documentation.
• Extensive knowledge (3+ years of experience) of National Instruments LabVIEW programming language.
• Knowledge of Omron CX-Programmer or other ladder programming a plus.
