And they updated the list of girl's names Smiley Very Happy

Instead of static content filters, there should be better behavioral filters. No legitimate user makes 200 new posts in a night at a rate of 1/minute. No second new thread should be allowed while the old post can still be edited. The third new thread should be held for moderation. The posting rules for new users should be relatively strict.

To get around the still too generous post rate limit, they are now simply setting up parallel accounts. (~200 posts each so far). Most likely, the all come from the same IP.

There should be a new menu entry or even a button: "report spam" (similar to e.g. in gmail). The "report to a moderator" should only be needed if a more detailed explanation is required. The number of such reports for a given user should be automatically considered in the filtering algorithm.

Agreed. Quick fix. Might add something in the "report spam" code that if a post is reported as spam more than once it's automatically removed and put into a quarantine or simply deleted.

On the morning after black friday, we find another set of at least three serial spammers flooding the forums (LabVIEW & feedback). One is now even attaching images and links.

A new feature in the chrome browser is that we can right-click any picture and immediately search google for it. This way we can easily expose crooks that plagiarize public images of more famous people. So, all of you that have a picture of Robert Pattinson on their online dating profile, be aware! 😄

For example, it turns out that one of the attached pictures is actually from porn star annely gerritsen another one is from tamil model sarmistha hot, etc. (well, I don't know these women, but google says that's who they are and the proof looks convincing. :D)

User @hgfhfgh has 36 posts in almost 45 minutes.

Again, the same subject is the aim of the spambots.

Already reported...

You know, if society started going medieval on spammers (like cutting off a mouse finger for the first infraction) we might see these problems slowly go away. Smiley Tongue
