Calling it a lightbulb was pure marketing genius.
Today it would have been called a space heater with a small, but usable emission in the visible spectrum.

But first, there aren't any cultural issues with those two animals that I am aware of.
Is the story of the turtle and the hare just an western thing?

Since the mode is for watching what is going on I think that a pair of binoculars or magnifying glass would be appropriate if they did not so heavily imply searching for something. Maybe a pair of eyeballs?
