Great link to a very interesting project.

I would have never thought of fire as an amplifier.

Now if only we could apply this technology to a Spinal Tap reunion tour.  Setting the amplifier to "11" might have an entirely different meaning.

Looks like an array of homebrew TE (thermo-electric) generators.

That technology may be an up and coming means to produce significant electricity from waste heat (industrial stacks, automotive, etc).

I think there are even TE based phone chargers built into cofee pots to be used on camp stoves or fires currently available.

SnowMule:

Do you own such a device, seems like it would be part of your adventure toolkit.

Sled's got a 400W stator.  Bike cranks out about 100W.

No need for silly TEG's as long as I have gasoline. Smiley Wink

Lots of talk about them on powersports forums, but it's kind of ridiculous to be riding a big generator all day then fire up something you've carried around to do the same thing for a little while.  Just charge your phone/cameras/GPS/whatever off the vehicle.  Much more efficient, and you don't have to pay for or carry some other device.  Just stop by a gas station and pick up a charger.

The assumption here is that you have 1) a vehicle and 2) gasoline with you.  Believe it or not,  people go places where neither of these points are actually true.
