A full-size Heating Neutral Beam (HNB) that is well beyond the one currently in operation is needed. To develop and test this full size HNB, an ad-hoc test facility is being established in Padova, Italy with Consorzio RFX taking the lead in this project. ITER needs longer duration of plasma discharge as opposed to the majority of the fusion machines currently in operation which are pulsed mode. To this effect data acquistion has to be streamed continuously and cannot be stored in local buffers for transfer later. This presentation goes into some of the implications of data streaming and the data acquisition and streaming architecture that RFX will be following.
