Hello all,
I am trying to use the NI 9853 card to read CAN signals. I have connected it to a 9074 cRio and that is running under a static IP through a LAN port on my computer. I cannot find the 9853 however when I search for it under devices and interfaces. I also cannot find it in the cRio under remote systems.
I have also tried the Tools>RT hardware config and I am given the error that the static IP is not found.
I know that the Ethernet connection works as I am able to connect to other devices such as an E-stop. How can I set this device up so I can us the CAN bust over it?

Hello! You won't be able to see the modules in NI MAX. If you want to interface with modules on the cRIO, you'll need to open up a LabVIEW project, add the cRIO as a target, and select an interface mode to detect C Series Modules.
There's a few examples for the 9853 if you open up LabVIEW and select Help >> Find Examples >> Search. Then you'll search for 9853. The CAN Basic project would be a good place to start.
Here's a few resources on the 985x modules:
