Using NI USB-8452 SPI DIO as Chip Select lines

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi all,

Would it be possible to extend the number of chip select (8) of a 8452 module by using the DIO lines of the 8452 and SPI script ?

If yes what are the caveats and recommendations ?

Best regards,

S. Michaud

Based on the scope captures I took today it should be possible to script a DIO line to emulate a CS line. There are minor differences in how the CS and DIO lines behave outside of the script. For example, the SPI Script Disable.vi will tristate the SPI lines in between scripts where the DIO will remain in the last state it was programmed to be in.

You bumped your own thread after 19 hours, after posting at midnight Sunday, on the US east cost, in a subforum for automotive help, asking about SPI hardware.  Please be more patient, next time, post in the correct subforum, and realize the large majority of people here are volunteers.  If you need immediate help contact NI, or pay a contractor for help.

SPI is mentioned only above Automotive section.

Maybe it would be better to classify  it elsewhere ?

Is it?  If so I apologize.  I would have thought Instrumentation Control, or Digital I/O would have been more appropriate.
