Device names getting messed up after reboot

Hello,

Today, this computer had an out-of-memory problem. After a reboot, I noticed that the XNET device names were messed up. They became CAN2,3,4,1 from top to bottom. It was CAN1,2,3,4. I've seen similar problems multiple times on different computers over the last few years. Why does it happen after a reboot sometimes? How can I prevent it?

I too have seen this.  For me it is on RT devices with XNet hardware.  There are times that I need to manually power off the controller as it isn't responding, and sometimes when it comes back online the CAN assignments are wrong.  Very annoying but at least for me relatively infrequent.

Hi pomirobotics,

What's probably going on is some type of issue with the MAX Database.

How to Fix or Reset the NI MAX Database File

Resetting that database file could help to prevent this from happening in the future.
