Current consumption Vsub of NI 9862 module

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I want to use a power supply plug for pin Vsub (9V-30V).

The power plug has 12V / 300mA. Is this enough for the NI9862 module in a cDAQ 9171 frame?

I cannot test it because the test station will be build up later.

The manual for the 9862 states the power draw from the chassis, and the chassis states the maximum power draw from USB.  But I also couldn't find in the manual where it stated the power draw from the VSup.  I know that it isn't much.  I ran a 4 slot embedded chassis running RT Linux, and one of these cards with a 500mA 12V supply.  The chassis likely would draw more than that under full load but it worked for a bench setup.  NI should chime in but I'd bet 300mA is enough for just the CAN card.

During normal operation @ 9V the 9862 will typically sink around 30mA with a theoretical maximum surge of 105 mA.
