July 14 meeting

July 14 is the week before GDevCon N.A. Should we move that meeting back or forward a couple weeks?

Also who is interested in presenting?

I thought the meetings used to be on the third thursday of odd months. The July 14th meeting is on the 2nd thursday so I'm fine with moving it to the third thursday. Also, we could move the Oct and Dec meetings to Sept and Nov respectively. Supposedly I have the ability to change this myself but I'm too dumb to figure it out.

And, I can present on using OOP to do something more than just hardware abstraction.

RE:  Preventing the computer from going to sleep.  I used to have a program that was set to send a "command prompt" request every 4 minutes (just before the 5 minute "no activity" sleep).  It would just use the LabVIEW command prompt to do something simple like the "who am I" request and disregard the result.  It was the equivalent of a user typing on the keyboard, so the computer would stay awake. It did cause a momentary flash as the command prompt screen appeared and then disappeared.

There are about a million janky ways to do this and none are really reliable or user friendly. The windows call is nice that it works all the time and you can make it transparent to the user but it is a bunch of work for the developer.

The 3rd Thursday is the last day of GDevCon NA.

I was just wondering if we wanted to have them so close.

Ahh, thanks for the explanation, I'm fine with moving it but it would be nice if others would chime in.

I'll be out of town on Aug 11, but I'll put in a vote for Aug 4th.
