in our lab we have the "big red push button emergency switch".

of course it is not connected to anything ...and close by we have the "laser frequency knob" : a demo button for those who need to touch something!

Imagine all those other posts that say things like:

"URGENT, NEED SOLUTION IMMEDIATELY"

"CATASTROPHE!!! NEED HELP UREGENTLY"

and so on..

we don't even bother to read them.

Are we learning something about human nature? We should change out Operator Interface to read

"DO NOT CLICK THIS BUTTON UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE" and use that button as a Save function? LOL!! 😄

Reminds me of Homer Simpson..

We'll have to create the D'Oh! Button.

Since this thread is full of stellar debris, did anyone else see the Geminid meteor shower last night?

At the peak rate there were about 120/hr, saw a couple very bright Earth grazers that lasted 3-5 seconds with visible trails. Cool stuff.

Thanks so very much about rubbing our noses in the fact that SOME places might have had nice skies for the meteor shower!! Where I am it was snowing, I did get dressed warmly and went out, figured that if there was one that didn't "graze" the Earth I might see it (probably one of the last things!) Of course, the nights leading up and after have been much clearer, but this shower really doesn't have too many "out lyers". 😞

Sorry it was snowing. I admit I used an incomplete and misleading term there. "Earth grazer" should have been "atmospheric grazer". I'm into weather and astronomy and naturally consider the atmosphere as part of the Earth.
