Previous version LABview

Hi there,

I was just wondering if there is any way I could obtain LABview 8.6?

I am currently using the 2013 student version for college, but my proffessor stresses that the 8.6 is required for use.

Well, if the professor has these specific requirements, the he also needs to provide a way for every student to get that version. Did you ask him?

(btw, it is LabVIEW, not LABview.)

You can do your code, and after finishing click file-save for previous version and click the vesion you want.

I managed to find the download here: LabVIEW Development System 8.6.1

What drivers and add ons will you need. The drivers that work with 2013 will not work with 8.6.1. So there is that potential issue.

The problem with Save For Previous is when you use a "new" feature, like conditional autoindexing tunnels. It might result in something you might now like.

Yes.

I guess that makes sense. Kind of annoying though. How would it work if somebody had a student license? I guess they would have to associate that license with their account first.

Well, honestly: Why should NI provide downloads for tool versions which are not the most current?

This is a policy i understand (only provide the latest which is covering all current OSes) which, i respect that as well, is not liked much by customers.

Point is: LV 8.6 is far from "up to date" hence it would already be a support issue.

Regarding the download: I am not sure if it really requires SSP. SSP is a trackable way of proving to have a valid license (which grants backward activation!). But i can imagine (havent tested though) that a valid serial number of a more up-to-date version should be sufficient to get that link.

Providing the link without SSP or valid serial is something i wouldn't do......

My observation was based on the fact that if I log out, the page changes to the following:

The link to SSP benefits explicitly mentions previous versions. I do think that a valid serial number of a later version should be sufficient, but I cannot test this.

Well, as it is explicetly mentioned as benefit for SSP, i would expect "a simple serial" to be not sufficient to get that link to work.

Maybe a product suggestion?
