telnet via Com port

Hello,

I wish to telnet to a server using labview in much the way hyperterminal does in windows (i.e using the com port) I have the internet toolkit and tried using the telnet vi's to build a connection. Can you select the com port for communitications ? I have seen some of the examples but my problem is configuring the port. Any help in this would be great.

Hyperterminal does not telnet to anything over a serial port. You use telnet to communicate to an ip address over an Ethernet connection. There is a shipping example with the Internet Toolkit of a telnet client. Just like Hyperterminal, you specify an ip. If you can connect to the ip with Hyperterminal, then you can connect with the shipping example.

If you want to communicate with an other system using the com port VISA serial is the way to go. You can start with the simple serial read write examples or browse for a LabVIEW VT100 emulator (I don't know if it exists, never needed it, I still own the refence, a DEC VT 102 terminal somewhere in the attic)
