Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit Now Available in VI Package Manager

Starting with version 15.0, available in August 2015, the LabVIEW Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit ships in the VI Package format and is available to download from VI Package Manager.

Why the change?

While the MSI installer format has been the standard for NI Installers, VI Package Manager (VIPM) is the most popular choice for third party add-ons.  The VIPM installer format has several benefits for LabVIEW add-ons including:

  • Compatibility with all newer versions of LabVIEW
  • One set of source code needed for all versions of LabVIEW
  • Dependency management
  • Automatic Updates
  • Cross platform/bitness compatibility

More information about using VIPM can be found on the LabVIEW Tools Network Add-on Developer Center

How to install Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit

To install the new Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit package, navigate to the Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit product page.  Click Download Toolkit to open the package in VIPM and then click Install to begin installation.

Note: Any previously installed versions of the Third Party Licensing & Activatmion Toolkit must be uninstalled in order to install the package.  Also, both LabVIEW and VI Package Manager must have administrative privileges to install the Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit.  To run as an administrator, right click the application shortcut and choose Run as Administrator.
