ni 6229 bnc analog input

Hi all,

I have a pressure sensor with 2 cable.One is for power supply other is for signal.I have connected the + side of sensor to power supply +. And signal cable to ai0.I have to connect power supply - to analog input -.But i dont know how to do it.I am using ni 6229 BNC.Do i have to switch to FS to GS?

Hello there,

 

First off, this post should have been made in the DAQ forum rather than the Volume License Manager forum. You may want to consider posting any follow-up questions or comments in that forum. 

 

As for the technical part of the post:

 

FS = Floating Source

GS = Ground Referenced Source

 

If the source you are trying to measure is floating (such as a battery) then you will want to use the FS setting.  If you source you are trying to measure is referenced to ground then you will use the GS setting.

 

The Field Wiring and Noise Considerations guide is a good resource for information about grounding.
