Is it possible to use virtual data logger to

interface(GPIB) with this chamber?

Espec Temp/Humidity chamber

Model: ESX-3CA.

We have labview but prefer not to

spend time writing a new program

if one exist. I have used data logger

for simple apps- temps only-

but I need to log if an alarm was activated or

the chamber shut down. I need to monitor

the status every 15-20 minutes and log.

Or perhaps via 232? I would appreciate any

suggestions.  Time is critcal and short

and would like to have this running this

weekend.

VirtualBench-Logger only supports NI Data Acquisition devices, older ones at that since the software last revved about 7 years ago.  It won't support your GPIB instrument.  Nor will our newer datalogging software VI Logger.  My recommendation is to find a LabVIEW instrument driver for the device and see if there are any examples with it that you could get started with.

I have the same problem as Rudy, except that I want to use LabView as a data loging and control system for the same Espec Chamber. Would LabView be able to interface with the Espec chambers and do that? if so, how would i go about doing it? Thanks in advance.

Just to clarify, are you askig about using VirtualBench with the Espec chamber, or just LabVIEW by itself?  As Kennon stated, VirtualBench is only designed to work with NI Data Acquisition hardware and will not work with your instrument.

However, page 7 of the catalog for Espec Temperature and Humidity Chambers (http://www.espec.com/images/uploads/files/e_catalog_platinous.pdf) states that there are LabVIEW drivers for GPIB communication with the ESX-3CA.  This implies that you should be able to remotely control the device using LabVIEW.  Espec will need to provide the driver for you.
