Random characters using serial read

I receive data from a RF receiver connected to the RS232. This receiver normally receive a message every 30sec. I carried out the same experiment using the hyperterminal application on windows and it worked fine.

However, when using a modified version of the basic serial write and read VI of labview, the readings on the read string box are corrupted by random characters I can't get rid of!

Any help would be grateful.
Thanks

Re: Random characters using serial read

You posted to the VirtualBench board but you mention LabVIEW. What are you actually using? If it's LabVIEW, you should post either to the LabVIEW or Instrument Control board. If you modified a shipping example, attach the modification. If you are getting strange characters in the read string, attach the VI with those characters. You do this by running the VI and then going to the edit menu and selecting Make Current Values Default. Save the VI and attach it to you post by clicking the Browse button next to the Attachment box below the message body.
