It appears that Virtualbench updated to firmware version 16.0.0 cannot be used on a PC with Microsoft XP. Is it possible to downgrade Virtualbench firmware ?

Yes, we were forced to drop support for Windows XP and Windows Vista starting with VirtualBench 16.0.0 application. The last application that will work on XP/Vista is VirtualBench 15.2.1.
If you attempt to upgrade firmware while running the app on XP/Vista, you get a warning about this before you can proceed with the firmware update. A user might still be surprised by this if they install the firmware while on a supported OS and then connect the VB to an XP/Vista machine.
I understand you are receiving assistance with this issue and I'm confident we'll have you up and running soon. Thank you, Laurent.

Hi Laurent,
I found that we do have installers posted for VirtualBench 15.2.1. If you'd like, you can install the VirtualBench 15.2.1 application locally to your XP machine using the installer linked on this page:
http://www.ni.com/download/virtualbench-driver-15.2/6104/en/
This installer contains both the VirtualBench driver and application, and you probably just need the application (unless you're using the driver to control VB from LabVIEW). During installation, just choose to do a custom install and uncheck the driver if you don't care about that.
If you use this installer, it will install VB 15.2.1 locally to the XP machine. You'd then run the VB app from Start >> Programs instead of running the application that is on the VirtualBench's flash drive. You shouldn't have any problem getting the VB 15.2.1 application connected to your VB hardware, even though your VB may have 16.0.0 or newer firmware installed.
If you'd still prefer to downgrade the firmware on your device so that your XP machine can run the app contained on VB's flash drive, then please continue to work privately with ToeTickler.
Cheers,
Damon

Hello Damon,
Thanks for your message, it is now clearer. We will use the VB 15.2.1 application as you suggest.
Thanks a lot
