Problem with connecting to USRP N210

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I'm having some problems connecting to the USRP N210 device. I have 2 in my possession at the moment and I use an unmanaged switch to connect them both to my laptop. As such, 1 has an IP adress of 192.168.10.2 and the other has 192.168.10.3. I can however only connect to the .3 device and not to the .2 one. Even when i only connect 1 device to my laptop (without the switch), I still can only connect to the .3 device and not to the .2 one.

The .2 device does however appear in the find devices application and I can also ping to it. Only when I try to connect to the device through Labview, I always get an error.

Do you have any ideas on what might be going wrong here?

My system specifications :

Labview 2012 (32bit) +  Modulation toolkit + NI USRP API

Windows 7

Hello !

Two quick suggestions to try:
1. Is the firmware up to date for the FPGA and EEPROM.
2. What is the error you get in LabVIEW? (Number and text explanation)

Hi,

The error i get (while using the test example file 'niUSRP EX Find and Connect' is :

niUSRP Open Rx Session.vi<ERR>A runtime or configuration error occurred.
Code: 1440
Details: RuntimeError:
Please update the firmware and FPGA images for your device.
See the application notes for USRP2/N-Series for instructions.
Expected protocol compatibility number [7 to 11], but got 12:
The firmware build is not compatible with the host code build.

So it could be something with the firmware (weird that it only happens with one of my two devices). How do i update this?

PS
The D (and F) lights on both devices are burning, indicating that the firmware is loaded. The E light is however not burning on my non-working device, indicating some problem with the LO.

Updating the firmware seemed to help the problem.

Thanks!
