PXI-4021 Memory and Sanitization

Hi,

I am trying to determine what memory is contained inside the PXI-4021 to include type of memory and size. Also how do you sanitize the device if memory is present.

Thanks

The PXI-4021 has the following nonvolatile memory:

U32 - AT28C64B-15JU

U15 - AT28C256-15JU

Sanitizing the device requires removal of U32 and U15.  Note that the NI-4021 will not work with U32 and U15 removed.

Thanks for the quick response.

Is this memory user modifiable? and what information can be stored insdie the EEPROM.

Thanks again. CT

The EEPROM holds the firmware for the device and is not user modifiable.  However, since it is just a standard EEPROM, it's possible that an educated person could change the personality, so if you're trying to meet government standards, NI recommends removing all nonvolatile memory storage elements.  Once you do that, the module will no longer work.  If you have a 'golden' 4021 that you know hasn't been tinkered with, you could read the EEPROM off of it and then comparte that data to the data on the suspect 4021.  If the data is different, then you could overwrite with the 'golden' data.  The 4021 is simply a communication adapter that allows PXI to communicate with SCXI, but if you've been tasked with sanitizing a product, overkill is the name of the game.
