How many bandwidth does ER-8 support?

Hi nlin-

Page A-1 of the ER-8/16 User Manual list the specifications for operate time and release time as 10ms and 5ms, respectively.  I assume this is what you mean by "bandwidth."

Thanks-

The reason I consider bandwidth of ER-8 is I will use it to switch a 0-1KHz source with max +-3A and compliance voltage +-6V.

The operation time may refer to NC to NO.
The release time may refer to NO to NC. Vice versa.
These spec don't tell me if it can pass the signal at what kind of frequency range.

Hello nlin,

The ER-8 uses electromechanical relays with low contact resistance so they can carry high currents. They do not have any additional current-limiting impedance, so frequency-dependent insertion loss shouldn't increase significantly until characteristic impedance mismatches start taking over (probably somewhere around 10-20 MHz for the ER-8).

While NI does not specify a maximum signal bandwidth for the ER-8, it's practically >> 1 MHz so you should have no problem passing a 1 kHz signal.

I hope this is helpful,

Charles
