Getting Started with LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite

What is LabVIEW Communications?

The LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite is a software design environment that integrates with NI SDR hardware to enable rapid prototyping of next-generation communications systems. Flexible design languages also allow an engineer to use the same high-level language to program processors and FPGAs, and write, maintain, and reuse designs.

Purpose (of this lesson):

To introduce a new user to LabVIEW Communication System Design Suite, walking through the user interfaces for the most common, basic document types.  This lesson will help to build a strong foundation in navigating LabVIEW CSDS for both the new user and the experienced LabVIEW programmer, improving usability and efficiency when designing a graphical programming solution.

Opening a Guided Help

LabVIEW CSDS provides a series of Guided Help documents to walk you through, and build familiarity with, the programming environment.  It is a great place to start for those completely new to LabVIEW Graphical Programming, as well as those looking to familiarize themselves with the new look and feel of LabVIEW CSDS.  To access a Guided Help document, open LabVIEW CSDS, and select the “Learn” menu:

From here, you can explore the lessons available to you.  A great first place to start is the Introduction to the LabVIEW Editor lesson under the “GETTING STARTED” section, highlighted in the images above.

The following video will walk through the Introduction to the LabVIEW Editor:
