can an alarm be set to control an external device using digital output?

Solved!
Go to solution

My employer is considering the purchase of a 6210 DAQ and SignalExpress (we currently use a DATAQ brand device).

It looks like i can use the SignalExpress alarm function to set a DO line to logic high or low, controlling an SSR to shut down a pump (a non-critical application).

Can i use SignalExpress in this manner?

I know LabView can do it, but there is no way the company will pop for it.

Thanks.

Hi Jack, this is Paul with Applications Engineering at National Instruments.

SignalExpress does support the functionality you are requesting.

Once you have set up your signal to acquire you can go to 'Recording Options'>'Alarms'  and then set the conditions of the alarm, then choose your Alarm Action as 'Set Digital Line'

I have attached a sample screenshot of that setup.

Note here I set it to LOW when Alarm turn ON.  You there are other options, including a toggle.

Let us know if you have any further questions!
