Using Rigol DS1102E in Signal Express

I recently acquired a Rigol DS1102E.  I am trying to make it work with SignalExpress but i can't get the software to recognize the oscilloscope.  I do see in the measurement and automation explorer that the VISA driver is being detected and the device shows up under the USB Devices group.  Could it be that this device only works with older Labview software and would need a new NI driver for use in SignalExpress?

I can control the device with the generic sotware that came with the Rigol that uses the VISA driver.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Alfredo,

Unfortunately, you would require the IVI drivers for the Rigol scope to acquire data in SignalExpress. The standard plug and play drivers here (http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=17713) are meant for the LabVIEW development environment. This forum post (http://forums.ni.com/t5/SignalExpress/Using-Labview-plug-and-play-drivers-with-Signal-express/m-p/72...) describes the issue as well - if you have access to LabVIEW, you can create SignalExpress plugins through the instructions here (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3203).

Rigol appears to offer a number of IVI drivers for their devices here (http://int.rigol.com/support/ivi/more.html). You may wish to try the IVI drivers for the 1000B series of scopes to see if they will work with your model and SignalExpress, however, I cannot guarantee whether or not they will work. Please let me know if you decide to give these a try, and what the outcome is.

Hi, i did try the ivi driver for the Ds1000b. Signalexpress does send commands to the scope but it does not pull any data into the computer, it always brings a 0v signal. I sent a note to rigol to see if they can help.

I wrote some intelligent sounding stuff about how the B series could capture waveforms internally, and all sors of stuff, but then i remembered the Ultrascope software and decided to research further...

check out Section 3-16.  It is all about programming a new IVI file for VISA for the 1000E series.  Probably, with a little work from a CSE friend, or just using the example code, you wil get what you seek, and in turn, so will I. Please reply back with success or fail :).

Hi, I only downloaded signal express and can't create a driver with it. I will need labview and I don't think there is a lite eval version.

there is a 30 day eval of the full version a well as a studemt version that is a full version practically and costs $20 and $60 depending on if you want just the Labview or the suite.  Also, If you read the example, you can use visual C++.  there is example code in there already.  If you have any coder firends, as then for further assistance :).  It should work...

This should probably be in a new thread.  But you'll just need the conversion and set up a scale.
