SignalExpress

I am trying to install the NI Developer Suite 2011 on a Server 2008 R2 VM, 64 bit.

Everything installed fine except SignalExpress.  It gave me these errors 

The "NI-DIM 1.11.0f0 for 64 Bit Windows" installation has failed with the following errors:

Error 1722.  There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.  

and also,

The "NI-ORB 1.9.3f0 for 64 Bit Windows" installation has failed with the following errors:

Error 1722.  There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. 

I find this in the event viewer:

Things I have tried:

-Turning off Windows Firewall service 

-Turning off WIndows Defender (we have no antivirus installed on this server)

-Giving Administrator full control to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry hive

-Making sure installation directory isn't read-only

-Restart, reinstall...

Anybody have any ideas??

Your running into driver issues on this virtual machine because SignalExpress is basically just a GUI for the hardware drivers. Your users wouldn't be able to get SignalExpress to work on a Virtual Machine because the hardware layer communication can't be passed through. If your users need to use SignalExpress they will have to install it locally on their machines.

Good to know, didn't read this in the documentation anywhere though?

Also, I managed to install Signal Express by using msconfig to boot into selective startup mode.  I haven't had a chance to use it or any of the other software in the NI suite yet, but will be late this week or early next week.  Sounds like I might run into some issues.  I'll post here with my results.
