I'm trying to generate a +/-10v full scale ramp signal to pass through two channels simultaneously. This signal will be used as external function [generator] for two MTS-407 servo/hydraulilc controllers connected to a single specimen. When I hit the "Start" button I need the function generator to generate a ramp (rate and amplitude) and pass this voltage off to both 407's.
My first question I guess is: do I need a special SCXI module to access the NI-FGEN output signals or can these signals be passed through the DAQ card via the SCXI 1302 and Feedthrough panel?
More question to follow...

Hello,
I am trying to do something similar to what you mention. I trying to use a labview program with a NI PXI-8106 and NI-PXI 6251 card to send a signal to a 407 controller through the external program BNC connector.
When trying the software I don't get any signal send or response in the actuator.
How did you solve this problem?
Do I need special hardware?
Please any help is appreciated
Mi software is attached.

Unfortunately I can't offer much of a solution for you. I ended up using the 'ol MTS 418 MicroProfiler Function Generator. It's complicated to set up which is why I originally wanted a software based solution.
For your purposes can you not use the 407's built-in ramp generator?

Well the idea is that in my test i need to applied a displacement history according to FEMA 460 in a quasistatic fashion, the function looks like a increasing saw function. So I was thinking of setting up a software that just send the voltage correspondiente to the displacement I wanted. However this seems to no be working and maybe by trying to settup the controller ramp function from my software and sending the run/hold/stop command will help me.

You mention that you don't get any response in the actuator but can you verify that you are actually sending out signals on the bnc lines? Also have you read through the manual to find out exactly what commands the actuator is expecting?

When controlling the actuator with an external signal it expects a 0-10v signal source into the 407's Ext. In.
Where 100% span = 10 volts.
I've used the Create Analog Signal in SigEx to send white noise to an actuator for an elasticity test. I access the available Analog Out channels on the DAQ card via feedthrough panel and terminal block. However it would be nice to have much more flexability with the signals to be generated; I.E. Haversine profiles, stepping ramp, ramp and hold etc...

did u get any solution for this..actually i'm looking for similar kind of task..where i need to control an actuator using mts 407 controller by sending a signal(torque or displacement) from labview..can you please help on programming this and what are all the things required for this to do..

The MTS 418 MicroProfiler is what I've been using.
