How to create a custom data type

Hi,

    I am using Labview 2009 and I am trying to create a custom data type and link it to Global variable to be deployed in cRIO 9073. I am unable find a method for doing this. Please suggest a way of doing this.

Right click on a control and go to Advanced->Customize.  This will open up the control editor.  Change the type from a control to a Type Def.  Customize as needed and save the control.
