Re: CompactRIO configuration

This still depends on how you plan on using the FPGA.

Like I mentioned in my last message "There are some special steps you'll need to go through to use the 9870 in scan interface mode as described in the help here."

If that's the case you go with, yes you will need to add that VI to the project underneath the cRIO controller. Make sure the COM port in the VI you posted is set to the correct port address for the 9870 after you follow those instruction to set it up.

If you need more information for how to set up your project/Real-Time application I recommend going through the Getting started with the LabVIEW Real-Time Module manual.

Re: CompactRIO configuration

It still depends on how you plan on using the FPGA. (Scan Interface or FPGA Module)

If you're in scan interface, follow the help document that I posted for you and install the scan engine support for 9870.

If you're planning on using the FPGA module you should check out the help documentation on how to use it here

Re: CompactRIO configuration

It looks like you removed the actual example. I'd recommend saving an copy of the example in a new directory next time and working on that.

I believe you'll need to replace the a folder called "Serial Loopback" at the following directory: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\examples\CompactRIO\Module Specific\NI 987x (that's the directory on my machine for LabVIEW 2011)

I've attached a zipped version of the folder for you to replace the folder with. Let me know if that does the trick.

Re: CompactRIO configuration

It appears you may not have the FPGA module installed. Do you see it in Measurement and Automation explorer under My System>>Software>>LabVIEW (version)>>FPGA

To better illustrate what I mean see the image below:
