Why do some signal generators (e.g. PXI-5650) have N/A bandwidth?

Solved!
Go to solution

I noticed that some signal generators, like PXI-5650 and PXI-5654, have their bandwidth listed as 'N/A' in comparsion tables.

In the datasheet of PXI-5654, their bandwidths are listed as N/A:

This can also be seen in the datasheet of PXIe-5644R VST:

But if you look at the specifications of PXI-5650/5651/5652, their bandwidth is 8MHz:

Does anyone know why their bandwidth is listed as N/A on the comparison tables?

The PXI-5650/5651/5651 are CW (mainly sine wave)  generators with limited modulated waveform generation capabilities. That is why the modulation bandwidth is limited as N/A. They do have limited modulated waveform generation capabilites via Frequency Shift Keying etc. The occupied bandwidth in the FSK case is listed.
