As per page 15 of the manual linked below, If you look at the 'Edge Trigger Sensitivity' section it mentions that the amplitude must be .25V peak to peak for ~10ns pulse(100MHz), and at least 1V peak to peak for a ~5ns pulse(200MHz).  The actual trigger level can be adjusted in software.

It looks like the 5122 does support video triggering for some basic video protocols.  More information about this can be found here:

ni pxi 5122 does not support HD video,i will use an external trigger  for this but i don't know information about it.

Hi Hamdoulah,

Do you know which standard of Analogue HDTV you will be using? It's also worth noting that most analogue HDTV standards have 3 analogue channels (YUV, YPbPr or YC1C2 an RGsB standard also exists) The 5122 has only 2 channels so it also depends on what you are hoping to do with the measurement side of things.

Hi nickstorton,

i will use YUV ,1/ ch0 =Y  with external trigger (channel TRIG) to show a specific line and mesure luma

2/ ch0 =U  with external trigger (channel TRIG)to show a specific line and mesure chroma, bandwidh

3/ ch0 =V  with external trigger (channel TRIG)to show a specific line and mesure luma, bandwith

Hi Hamdoulah,

Do you know if the system you are using has sync on Y or a separate H/V sync signal? In any case you could connect your Y signal to CH1 and then multiplex the U & V signals onto CH2. This will work well if you have a static test pattern on the video signal as you will be able to make a YU combined measurement on one frame and then a YV combined measurement on the next frame as all frames are the same with a static pattern. You will need external circuitry however to provide you with the ext trigger signal. The 5122 does not have the ability to count lines with an HD signal only the SD signals PAL, NTSC and SECAM. Anyway it is possible to do this, take a look at the NI VideoMASTER product for some ideas of what is possible with this hardware.

Good luck and best regards,

Nick
