pxi 8360 power led flashes red

I'm seeing exactly the same problem as Erick with identical symptoms and setup.

Erick, did an 8370 firmware update fix the issue for both chassis?

Hello Sean_W,

It fixed it for one Chassis.

The other one I didn't work with it further, thus I am unsure if it will solve the issue too.

Followup info for posterity:

Firmware updated to PXIe-8374 did in fact solve the issue where a PXIe-1075 would shut itself down after the user attempts to access NI-MAX or when Windows attempts to install drivers on bootup after a new PXI module is installed in the chassis.

There is, however, something much more subtle going on here that doesn't entirely make sense. I natively booted the attached PC from a few different Windows images, and the PXIe-1075 shuts itself off only for *some* of those Windows images. For other Windows images, the problem doesn't present itself at all.

For now....a firmware update to PXIe-8374 solved the issue and I'm not going to further investigate why the problem only manifests with certain Windows images.

Hello,

I do have the same problem with 1075 chassis and PXIe-8370 but unfortunatelly I seem to be unable to make the firmware update.

Could you please tell me the exact procedure you followed?

I'm using Windows 7 / Labview 2015 SP1 and I'm trying as specified in the readme file to access the 8370 controller through MAX -> System -> Web Configuration

The chassis appear in the Web Configuration and I'm also seeing the SMBus Controller, but there is no Update Firmware Button in there. I have also tried logging with the admin/nopass but no luck as well.

Many thanks.

Hey idsys-ro,

I'm unsure of the exact steps that Sean_W used but I do know the recommeded steps to install the firmware from the readme.

National Instruments MXI Express Firmware Update -http://download.ni.com/support/softlib//PXI/MXIe%20Firmware/ReadMe.html\

I would try following those and post if you have trouble following those steps or if they don't work.

Moving forward from that it seemst that this firmware is from 2013 which should've rolled up in the later versions of PXI Platform Services (the driver that supports your chassis).

I looked into compatibility and it seems that the lastest driver should work for you.

NI PXI Platform Services Hardware Support -http://www.ni.com/product-documentation/52865/en/

PXI Platform Services 16.0 - http://www.ni.com/download/pxi-platform-services-16.0/6195/en/

PXI Platform Services 16.0 Readme - http://download.ni.com/support/softlib//PXI/PXI%20Platform%20Services/16.0.0/ReadMe.html

Another step might be to upgrade to the lastest driver.

Could you provde more information on what drivers your have installed and are trying to use? Also has this system ever worked in the past? if so what are all the possible changes that might be causing this behavior?

Hi -

I am pretty sure I followed the procedure described in the readme.txt file for the firmware update. It has been a couple months, so I don't remember the exact procedure.
